
Jan Healey
Qualified to PhD level, Jan graduated from York St John University in 2005. Jan worked in the NHS gaining experience in orthopaedics, elderly medical, acute stroke and rehabilitation. She then went on to work as a community OT in adult social care acquiring a wealth of experience in adaptations, equipment, housing and moving and handling.
Jan has worked in private practice since 2009, and as an OT manager she supported several local authorities designing, implementing and managing specialist moving and handling projects, working closely with home care commissioners, independent care providers, service users and occupational therapists. This ultimately led to Jan completing a PhD around the topic of homecare support, applying a human factors and ergonomics perspective.
Jan has spoken at conferences and the OT show about her moving and handling project and has delivered talks about her research to international audiences.
