Helen Smith

Helen has 30 years’ experience of working with clients and their families within their own homes, specialising in work with disabled children, to provide holistic assessments identifying functional ability and areas of need and making recommendations to meet these needs.

Helen is experienced in identifying risk factors within the home and providing advice to reduce or manage risk and promote safe practices and environments. She is skilled in assessing for specialist and bespoke occupational therapy equipment, including functional positioning and hoisting, and completing detailed clinical reasoning to support prescription.

Helen has a thorough understanding of legislation relating to Disabled Facilities Grants and housing adaptations and she is able to efficiently determine the need for major and minor building adaptations, making appropriate recommendations in line with legislation and drawing sketch plans of existing property layouts and proposed adaptations.
